    Outdoor PIR

    Hi all

I am having false alarm activation from my outdoor PIR which is caused by stray cats. My Takex 180 is a pet friendly PIR. It has a range up to 12m.
I have had to reduce the range to 5m to prevent the activation.
There is a wall about 6m from the PIR and the cat jumps over the 1.6m wall which is causing the activation.

Are there any clever ways to keep stray cats from ones property. My dog was old and died and have no intention of getting another dog. I have seen some ultrasonic repellers but not sure how effective these are.

    All advice is appreciated.

    Thanks

I am experiencing the same problem, cats activating the beams all hours of the night.

I have made a bunch of adjustments to the PIR's which just doesnt make sense from a security point of view. I was also told by the tech guys that the outdoor PIR's are not pet friendly.
Comments are my opinion, unless regulations are attached to support the comment. This is social media, not a court room.

This is rather frustrating. There is a horizontal "beam" and a diagonal one going to the ground. Both these need to be broken to activate the alarm. A dog would only be able to break one beam unless its big enough and stands upright to break both beams at the same time. Well that is what they say on the packaging. With cats jumping they easily break both sensors while jumping over the wall.

I have another PIR to install but now hesitant for the false alarms. Need to find a way to get the cats off the property.
