    Standard Bank Vs Firefox

I use Firefox as my default browser.
Having issues getting Standard Bank internet banking going.
The site works in the other browsers but not firefox.
Have cleared out history, cookies cache etc.
    Have disabled all extensions.
Made no difference - problem seems to be in standard bank coding.
Anybody have the same problem or any ideas on this?

Hi Marq - when you say extensions disabled are you including the Add-ons. If not, you can try restaring Firefox by going to the open icon at the top right hand corner ... then down to the ? at the bottom of the drop- down box. Select restart with Add-ons disabled.

      Hi there
Challenged by Telkom today with no line, Eskom with no juice and Ethekwini with no water - its a wonder anything gets done.

I have started firefox in safe mode - yes extensions are add ons
No joy - problem still there.

Hi Marq - ok wasn't too sure that Add-ons were the same as extensions. What about the plug-ins? I assume that they are all up to date.

I don't use Standard Bank Internet Banking, but when I log onto Std Bank and click onto the Internet Banking it opens up ok for me to log in. Are you able to get that far or is the problem after you login?

I also use Firefox as my default browser and I have a problem with SARS when I need to upload a document and with Vodacom when I need to type in the One Time Pin ... but I have just assumed that it is because of the addons and go to Internet Explorer to get those tasks done.

The error message I am getting is - "Secure Connection Failure".
          this points me to https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb...ot-secure-mean

This is basically tells me that Standards certificate is not up to scratch, which cannot be the case as one can access their site in other browsers.

I investigated SARS - and per their "IT guy" many moons ago, their site is only built for IE and they have not catered for any other browsers. I did inform them that IE was on its way out and they should reevaluate this archaic thinking. Guess where he told me to go.

Will post here if I ever get to an answer.
          Thanks for the input.

Thanks for the link Mike - I had tried that but still no joy.
I will contact Standard as soon as I have some time on my hands.
Standard Bank are so useless at answering and helping at their so called helpdesk, so its not something that I do willingly

Eventually uninstalled firefox, deleted all files, cleaned up registry (It leaves tons of stuff behind) ; downloaded and installed as new.
Problem solved - not in a satisfactory manner, but solved.
                Thanks for your input.

So a clean install of Firefox resolved the problem?

There is another manner of getting around this, I noted that FF started behaving erratically in the last week or two. There have been some updates in the background.

Top RHS of menu bar, there are 3 lines, click on it.
Then at the bottom of that menu, there is the "?", click on it
Look for "Troubleshooting Information", click on it
On the next screen there will be info, top RHS see the section that says :Give Firefox a tune up", below it press the "Refresh Fire Fox"

Fire Fox does some maintenance and clean up, and tends to work well again.
I have also found that googling with the problem you have with Fire Fox in the search line brings some excellent replies and solutions.

Did all the refresh things etc - did not work.
Only a complete refresh did the trick.
Firefox (the reloaded one now and the old one) is very slow and not responding half the time. I thought it may be windows, but chrome works with no problems.
I prefer FF because chrome (google) was getting too intrusive and trying to dictate my browsing habits and not letting me onto sites at one stage a while back.
What is everyone else using out there?

                          I agree 100%
                          However....for my business....

I have retried FNB and found them to be a bigger nightmare than standard. Which was a previous assessment but thought they may have changed. Bad move.
I also have absa accounts, which have created many hours of joyful standing in queues to eventually speak to uninterested (or is it disinterested?) uninformed, unconcerned apathetic..(add your own expletives here)...morons who apply fuzzy logic with a tinge of up yours to what must be an attempt to liven up their day.
I had some nedbank accounts - I could not get a postal address changed, so took the lady at the reception a bet that I could close the accounts faster and easier than getting the address changed. This was after a month of hassle and then more hustle and hassle when I was there in person. Five minutes later walked out with a cheque and no more nedbank problems. The receptionist came running after me to try and save their day but alas......I have never been back.
I have also closed a standard bank account about a year back where I received a cheque but never gave them any id or details other than to confirm which name should go on the cheque. So much for their fica (marketing) security scenario.

                          Is there any other choice?
