    Postal Service to South Africa

    Hi,
Just looking for some advice on the most secure service to post to South Africa right now. Anyone know what that might be? Worried about possessions going missing etc.

    Hi

You probably need to use a courier - post to South Africa is not guaranteed and fairly difficult to track once it arrives. If its bulky a freight forwarder would be the answer.

We've been using Postnet for a couple of yours without any problems. Postnet uses DHL for international shipments.

          Not always a total disaster.

Just this week I picked up a parcel sent from the UK, sent by my sister-in-law to my daughter.

Posted on 13th and in my P.O. Box on 17th Feb.
Although the envelope (A4 package type) had been torn open along the way somehow, and resealed with SA Post Office tape, I'm pleased to report all the contents were still there and in good shape.
It was just two Star Wars shopping bags mind you (just as declared on the label), although the package felt suspiciously like it might contain a T-shirt or two.

Anyhow, the packaging may have suffered, but the goods inside made it just fine!
          Participation is voluntary.

            Adrian,

would you mind telling me, is it possible to send a parcel from the USA / China, using eBay, to a postnet box?
            If so, how?
i.e. what address do you give the sender on the other side?
I find that using DHL / Fedex / etc for a $10 item is simply too expensive

I doubt it. I suspect that you would have to use DHL.

I don't know if there is a good / cheap way of doing it. Many companies don't like to ship to South Africa. We normally have our stuff shipped to Namibia and then bring it over by road from there.

Sounds like you were lucky! I wouldn't go with the PO either...

I got a new remote for apple tv through the post from Hong Kong. It took just over 3 weeks. But we still don't use the Post Office for the online store the risk is too great there will be another 6 month strike.
