      How did it go?

      It was hot and windy..
I ended up sitting on the side of the road just after the Shongweni dip, legs cramping. The little training I put in, i expected to finish in 5 hrs. Managed a 4.35. Hopefully i will get in a bit more training for the Argus.

I was going strong until 70km when I hit the proverbial wall with severe cramping and vomiting. I walked up the next hill and, when I tried to mount my bike to coast downhill, I cramped again and fell on my side with the bike on top of me. That's when I threw in the towel. It was to be my 6th Amashova.

I guess I simply did not drink enough in the heat and dehydrated.

Now I've got to motivate myself for the 94.7 Challenge in Johannesburg next month.

Sorry to hear Neville. I actually looking down at my bike computer and noted exactly 70 km on the screen when i stopped...it was the hill just after the shongweni on ramp. I got off the bike and sat there for a period of time.eventually i got up and climbed back on the bike and rode to the end

Come down to CPT and do the Argus with me. If you start only the wind and heat are normally not so bad.

Yip, that's where I threw in the towel. Apart from the dehydration, I now also think that another contributor to my cramps is that my saddle height was far too low. I was checking it yesterday and I had to raise it about 3cm! I went for a ride yesterday with the adjusted saddle height and what a difference!

I submitted my entry for the race, but I was unfortunately not one of the lucky ones under the new random selection policy. Hopefully today I might get lucky when they do another random draw after the payment deadline expires for the successful applicants.

I got in (argus)....entrance fee paid...accommodation booked... this will be the slowest ride.

My plan is to stay just ahead of the cutoff times and enjoy the view.

I have recently had a bike fit done in Ballito.

Made a wise investment, managed to find a pair of assos mille shorts for those long hauls at a bargain price. These bib shorts have turned my cycling experience from a pain in the butt to an absolute pleasure.

Just finished 5 weeks at Cadence westville. Wish i had done the the whole 12 weeks also money well spent.
