Interesting things to watch for in 2015

Gazing into the crystal ball, there looks like we could have a few interesting things to watch for in 2015 that could have quite an impact on how things develop.

Top of my list of "things to watch" is probably the oil price.
Will it bounce back, stay at current levels, or slide down even further?
How long is the oversupply going to last?
Will it stimulate the global economy?
What effect is it going to have on the SA current account deficit?

Which brings me to number 2 - how is the Rand going to perform in 2015?
I was pretty bearish on the Rand, but with oil prices down...
Depends on the performance of other resources, I guess, given our heavy dependence on resource exports nowadays.

My next point of interest is going to be our dear President over the coming year.
Will he succeed in sweeping Nkandla under the carpet?
When will he rediscover the road to Parliament?
And what is going to happen when he does?

What do you think might be of particular interest in 2015?

My concern with the oil price is the drop is only a rand plus for a 50 % decrease in the oil price. I dont see food prices dropping etc but as soon as the oil price climbs again we will see huge increases in everything including the petrol price.

The rand is always interesting because like the petrol everything is effected by its movement up, very little is effected by a down movement.

The president, what president he is just enjoying the benefits of his jobs title.

My only concern in 2015, is safety and security for my family. At the end of the day nothing is worth mentioning if my family is not safe.

I have a lot of things i want to do this year. The less material objects and the more memories i can enjoy this year the better.

        My ponderings for 2015
Will the tax rates be raised and by how much?
Will the Etolls be scrapped or will ANC wait to before 2016 elections to scrap them?
Will prices drop with the falling petrol prices? (We need a rhetorical question)

Load shedding, is it going to destroy our fragile economy.

They have just started schedule 1 load shedding

They have indeed switched me of at 11h19 (my usual slot is 10h00-12h30), but their website said NO LOAD SHEDDING even after that. This website in Cape Town is useless as they switch you off first and then maybe tell you later about it when they update the website.

Correct, but I sometimes fire up my cell phone to check the website... but essentially it will be too late.

Why do people still use computers rather than laptops? Most laptops have 6 hour plus battery like or you can buy a backup battery.

Because laptops drop, get stolen when in transit etc. I do not have the need to carry a laptop either and desktops are cheaper I believe. But I can see that the trend is otherwise towards laptops. I usually swim against the trend anyway. I do not have a table either.
