    Hyundai i35

I am considering getting a low mileage demo Hyundai i35 to replace my Mazda 3 hatch.

Any first hand recommendations on this vehicle? Any negatives?

We visit the game parks quite regularly and the Mazda is frustratingly too low for game viewing, so I thought that the i35 would solve that problem.

Is the 6 inches going to make that much of a difference or are you going to put a substantial roof rack on it and use it as a viewing deck?

I know someone who owns one and they've been happy with it. They bought it new and it's fairly high mileage now (>150k) becase they use it for work, it's not given any problems.

I have one, and say that I am quite happy with it. I have done some 4X4 with it, but not the raw heavy stuff. I enjoy the automatic, and the switch for locking all wheels, and also the antiskid device which is great for going down steep sandy/stoney/slippery inclines.
      I would call it a soft 4X4.

I have the automatic petrol engine model, a bit high on fuel. I average about 11.5L per 100Kms

I haven't looked at any particular vehicle yet.

It is quite surprising the number of IX35s on the road, so it must be an acceptable vehicle.

I will be taking one for a test drive tomorrow.

It's not a demo model, but a used 2012 petrol 2 litre model with 73000km.

I'm not 100% sure about the petrol (I think diesel will be better) and I would prefer a lower mileage used vehicle, but it suits my budget right now.

                Hi Neville,

The problem with the diesel model, is that you can not simply use any diesel in it, it has to be the very low sulpher diesel, which limits the number of stations you can use to fill the tank.
