Shame you must be bitterly disappointed, I have been there about 3-4 times and there are usually a few old men with little pekkers walking around and a few sakking grannies burning into the sand. You have to tunnel vision a bit, but sometimes its really good, I guess its all about luck.

A lot has changes during the years but as far as I know and I stand to be corrected, Power-Plants are still considered a National key point.
From "NATIONAL KEY POINTS ACT 102 OF 1980"
2 Declaration of any place or area as a National Key Point
(1) If it appears to the Minister at any time that any place or area is so
Important that its loss, damage, disruption or immobilization may prejudice the
Republic, or whenever he considers it necessary or expedient for the safety of the
Republic or in the public interest, he may declare that place or area a National Key Point.
This is important to note because what we don’t see is our military guarding these sites. Now consider their importance for a moment.
Can South Africa go without power?
Can investors invest in South Africa without stable power?
So clearly these installations/buildings/construction sites are vital to our country there is no disputing this fact. So where is the military? Where is the access control?
There you go Dave! You got it right it is exactly that. TREASON!
I was thinking "treason", personally.
Whatever you think it might be, I believe it's the end product of a whole series of not holding people responsible for their actions. The Medupi project is being milked, and we are all footing the bill.
If you see something different, please - let's hear it.peace is a state of mind

So tec0, what are you doing today....eat Nik Naks and watching videos, I bet.
Let me tell you about my day, I am busy cutting a job on the laser, I have to cut and deliver a job to a lady before 12H00, there is a lady dropping paper off to be cut for a wedding, she will collect it before 18H00 today, then I have to set the laser up to continue cutting a job that a lady will collect on Monday. I need to make a guide today to force the laser head to ride up and down following the height of a bent plywood panel. Then I have to make about 10 tiny little doughnut things on the lathe for the trains, I have to assemble 4 locomotives and fit DCC decoders to another two....that is the plan for today...I am sure you don't want to hear about tomorrow but it includes a lot of laser cutting, model building, messing around with HDR photography and all sorts of other interesting stuff.
You see, my young friend, we have a choice in life, we can sit back and whinge about the terrible employer or we can get off our a$$es and do stuff for ourselves.... There is not a single thing in the list of stuff that I am busy with this weekend that I didn't teach myself...you need to realize for once and for all that YOUR life is in YOUR hands.....
Other then that yea I got nothing on. My generator is too small to drive my welder so what I wanted to do this weekend got placed on hold. Basically just listening to some music and play some games. Thinking tonight I might clean my work space... Don't know yet... I might...
Just a thought.... yea Metallica Black a nice steak fire ooh yea ek braai vanaand mmm

I hope everybody is having a beer, if you are not then go play with your barbie dolls.......Just kidding I am not pushy with drinking. You want a cola? here we go. I don’t really drink the hot stuff, I will have a 6pack braaing either on Sat or Sun, it’s my time to shine! I have said this before, I am a perfect gentleman and braai expert.
Hey tec0 don’t burn the steak like that, you losing all the moisture and making it sturdy, sies man, I remember from the photo you posted some time back. That aside, you show great character maker a fire as men must.It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change. – Charles DarwinComment

Had a long talk with an old friend of mine, in his opinion contractors are guilty for not training there staff. They say it takes to long and cost to much and in the end they just walk when they get the papers. This is for the most part true, however I wonder if modular isn't the way to go? Think about it, it will solve the time problem and as a reward "bonus" you can send her/him on a yearly bases to "train" pick up skills that way you get about 3 years worth of work out of your employee before she/he is "fully" qualified but still qualified enough to the job.peace is a state of mind

This is the collar that I made for the laser. The collar clamps around the neck of the cutting head and then holds the "foot" at the correct height below the head. The head is loosened so that the foot can ride up and down keeping the cutting head at the correct focal length. I tested it y putting a 3mm shim underneath a piece of MDF causing the MDF to have a warp of 3mm. The laser would mess such a cut up under normal circumstances because 3mm is just to high an error for the focal length.
I'm busy cutting a terribly warped Maple veneered plywood panel for a lady which was an absolute nightmare before. The laser custs it like butter now because the head simply rides the warp like a wave.
The collar is just one of those bright ideas that formed in my head through trying to find a solution to a really annoying problem.

It works well but when the wood is badly warped it tends to stick and drag the wood....as I found to my dismay. My biggest problem is that my bed is warped and that we have to adjust the height all the time. I'm cutting a smaller job now but we'll give it a go with a 900mm sq panel of 3mm mdf that is always a problem because of the bed. Hopefully it will solve the bed issue.Comment

I see in some hardware stores you get "Teflon pads for furniture" They are not that expensive. I am sure you can modify them to work on your application. On your bolts I would allow for space between the top ring to accommodate small springs that will push against the frame and the nuts. This will absorb some of the warped surface while maintaining a steady platform. I think this along side the Teflon pads will help to absorb friction while keeping things a bit more level.Last edited by tec0; 26-Aug-13, 09:16 AM.peace is a state of mind

Concerning that guy with the signatures..... I actually agree with this person.
The reason is, he is entitled to claim his insurance, because he was paying his premium.
The insurance fund just doesn't want to pay up. They can deduct it off your pay slip, they should also pay it back just as quick.
Instead they make you walk around town like a headless chicken while the bills stack up at home.
Although - I agree with everyone else here.
Don't know why he didnt give his CV forward at the same time and actually looked for a job while eating up the insurance money. Because eventually that will also run out. (short-term-ism)Comment
