    Supermarket meat scandal

Well after reading this I think anyone living in South Africa will think twice before buying meat at their local supermarket.

Pick n Pay, Checkkers, Shoprite, Fruit and Veg City, Woolworths and Spa are of the supermarkets that have been identified as incorrectly labeling their meat.
According to Stellenbosch University, 60% of the 139 products they tested contained ingredients which were not on their label including Donkey water buffalo, goat and pork.

And,we have been eating it happily and nobody has died from it. Yes the companies must shape up but it is not a disaster either.

For sure, the only problem is that the governmunt will pocket whatever fines are levied!

Luckily I get my meat for my local butcher & he cuts it up in front of me.
To Think of it, in the early eighties there was a roadhouse in Newlands (JHB) who used to make these wonderful hamburgers that everybody used to brag about.
One day he got caught slaughtering the local cats & dogs in the area & making hamburger patties out of them.

            This is getting even worse.
Human DNA could well be in meat products

Become a vegetarian or stand a chance of being infected with aids.

For approximately 20 years I worked on the mines as a miner (Stoper & Developer)
During this time I learnt alot about the African cultures.

It is mainly lower class african men that slaughter the animals, clean & prepare the carcusses.
If he doesn't want an aids test you can't force him to have one.
The knives they work with are razor sharp.
If he cuts himself & doesn't report it, his supervisor isn't going to know.
If he does have aids & cuts himself, do you think it is possible for him to contaminate the meat?

For me its all about the principles, morals and ethics.
Its right up there with price fixing and anti competitive behaviour.
If one does not put a stop to these practices and punish those responsible, then where does one draw the line between acceptable and unacceptable.
The public should not accept being deliberately misled into believing something when if fact it isn't.
For the public accept this type of practice, which I am shocked to see is vast, are in my opinion grossly ignorant.

Well individuals in class action would get damages. (The difficulties of proving you bought the tainted product would be immense. But what a lot of fun)

There are grounds for exercising POCA. Its a form of racketeering. That should set the cat amongst the pigeons, nd government officilas visiting luxury sedan showrooms or architects!

AIDS is a virus and dies very quickly when not in a living body.
Do a Google search and there are a number of reports giving explanations on how HIV and AIDS are transmitted.

Hmmm, this is africa after all, food with human DNA would basically be muti. Make you strong like bull and bullet proof (sometimes)

Are you willing to test the theory?
