Recieved my metro bill this morning, R7000 +, they did an estimate for the elctricity since april and an actual reading in December, eeeish i nearly fell off my chair R5000 + for electricity, the sad part, it is correct because i have been recording the readings since November 2011. Its always a good time to get a little surprise at this time of the year, lucky i have been saving the money to pay it, NOT

I got beeeeg dogs. What i dont understand is that there have been people coming to the gate dressed in red overals, (with a device similar to the one used for the water meter readings) every month requesting my meter reading since september last year, hence the reason i havent queried why they are still doing estimates, been really busy and time goes by and you dont think about things like this, until suddenly you get a bill like this.
My own fault, i should have paid extra each month, its not that i didnt know, just wasnt sure when they were going to load it.
I can, and i can phone it in like i have in the past, but there have been "meter reader" in red overalls with a device similar to the ones used to read the water meter, taking the reading every month. It is just that it is not a good time for me to come up with R7000+. I should have the money before the end of the month. Like the Virgin mobile issue. i didnt have a problem with the amount, just loading and debiting someones account for the whole of the previous years account in one hit breaks the bank, well for me it does. I sure all the other people on this site know how to mange and save money, so they dont have this kind of problem in January, maybe if i plan better this year i might have a little savings set aside for next year. Set a goal.

My brother had a similar experience last year. R20K bill all of a sudden! Same story that the previous readings where averages and now they have taken an actual!
