Diesel rebate experts?

Good day,

SARS have decided to do a diesel rebate audit for our business. We do exploraion drilling - mining. The CC was registered in 2000, but I only got involved in June 2008.

Suddenly they have decided that we do not qualify for the rebate any more because we are the contractor for the mining co.

I mean there must have been anpplication for the rebate in 2000 when the CC was registered and it must have been approved in order for us to be able to do the rebate on e-filing.

Any experts on diesel rebates that can guide me here please? They want R156 000 from us for the rebates from 2000.......

Can they do an audit that far back? Is it not just allowed for 5 years back???

Any suggestions please?

I realize that this is an old post but I am directly involved in the Diesel Rebate System and assist, Farms, Mines etc with their compliance. Yes Contractors are not part of the system but but legislation is currently being reviewed to be announced in the 2019 budget. This is expected to broaden the net and allow greater benefit.
