OK. So just for those of us who forgot ( like me ), what's the procedure here ?

Do we create all IRP5 and IT3A certificates on EasyFiling, then do the EMP501 recon, submit the recon, and hold back the IRP5 and IT3As until the go-ahead from SARS ?
    Watching the ships passing by.

Has anyone been able to succesfully download the Mac version of Easyfile and actually use it?
Or should i rather not waste my time and just do the recon on a windows machine...? SARS

Yep - that's pretty much it.

I wonder what bizarre stumbling blocks I'll hit this year...

EDIT: I see Jenna might have found the first one

Well with the last submission they said the Mac version would be out before submission date, i kept calling and they kept promising....I ended up having to do it at homea as all the PC's at the office are Mac.
This year they have proudly launched the Mac version - only problem is that it doesnt seem to work? joys...and im sure you wont be able to import the windows files into the mac version (if i know SARS )

Hi there, you can just create, recon, submit and hand out the IRP5's straight away.. the go-ahead only applied to the first time we did Easyfile and the first year SARS had the IRP5's pre-populated on the IT12's. Enjoy!
always fear when Christel is near....

E@syfile has never worked on either my win7 64bit pc or our Windows server. Time again to install an old pc with Windows XP ... *sigh*

Worked fine for me with the August 2011 recon.

Make sure Adobe Air is up to date, and run E@syfile as an administrator.

Yes it is up to date. Tried both E@syfile updating it, plus uninstalled it and installed it off the adobe site. Did same with java runtime.

The crashdump is coming from the java runtime. The problem is clearly originating from the E@syfile application, but the backtrace unfortunately appears the debug symbols are stripped.

Are you running it in administrator mode?

Yes. I'm not even going to get into how dangerous it is running applications in administrator mode and giving them unlimited access. Lets leave it at that, very glad it works for the rest of you.

I'll get one of my staff to install Windows XP somewhere and fight it. Incompetent programmers is one that I just cannot handle. Not only that but an incompetent government that thinks AIR is the right platform to deploy a tax application on.

Agreed, especially as the developers are probably earning a fortune on this one

I don't even want to think how much they paid Adobe .... as for salaries for the programmers, I'd assume at least 30-50k p/month. It could even be outsourced development.

What happened here is someone probably showed SARS a pretty little presentation, and people that know absolutely nothing about IT thought it looked good and decided to implement it.
