    [Question] UIF EXPERIENCE NEEDED

    Hi,
Is there anybody that could advise me on the following :

I need to get a list of all the employees that are on the uif system, but dont want to go to the hassle of phones, as it has proved fruitless on numerous occassions.
Im wondering if its possible to send an email or something?
Im in dire need to get my uif sorted out and up to date.

    Thanks in advance

I've never had a statement from UIF yet, so I wouldn't know whether they're even geared up to be able to give one.

Have the returns been filed via uFiling or manually (paper based)?

If it's on uFiling, there's a list of employees against the enterprise profile which you can filter by all, active or inactive (or something like that).

If it's manual - well, you can either try to figure things out from the returns you've filed - or just do a batch of returns for each month since the last one was sent in.

This probably isn't the right thing to say, but my experience is UIF only seemed to worry about the correct allocation of contributions against any particular individual when they're filing a UIF claim. At any other time, the main concern seems to be that your contributions are in line with your own payroll records.

For the record, I think that's changed more recently - probably since March 2010, with what appears to be an improved link-up between SARS and UIF. I'd certainly suggest keeping your UIF returns in order via uFiling going forward.

In the past when I have faxed and emailed through the UI19 form, I then receive (a few weeks later), in the post, an updated list of my staff on their records. Basically a confirmation of my submission.

Ufiling is probably the best way to go, but otherwise submit the form by email and/or fax and update the details of all your staff over the last year or so. i.e. Include those that have resigned, died, etc with their date of leaving employment, even if it were several months ago.
