    VAT: invoicing address

Quick question on the address for tax invoices.
    • Does the address used have to be the registered business address, or is a postal address adequate?

I didn't pick up anything specific in this regard in the VAT 404 guide. Thanks.

Postal address is fine. I don't think SARS is sticky about that - and how would we check anyway

I think as suppliers of goods/services we fret too much on these details. Sure, let's get it right according to information provided by the client. But the onus is on the registered vendor claiming input tax to make sure everything is in order on our tax invoice to them. The main concern would be getting the VAT number right on invoices over R3000.00.

SARS is rightly more concerned with the hand that taketh away as opposed to the hand that giveth!

I was actually asking for the address that I give out to suppliers. I didn't think that it mattered too much, and the VAT 404 guide is non-specific - it just says address. I'll just give which ever is more convenient (normally postal).

I wondered. Just make sure they know where to send the cheque
