IT3a query

Hi all.

I have started working this year and I don't understand how the IT3a works.

I have received an IT3a certificate from my employer but there is no tax withheld shown on the certificate. I believe that there should be because the amount paid to be for my vac work differs from the amount earned on the
IT3a certificate.

Please can anyone advise me with regarding to this IT3a issue.

I'm assuming you received less money in hand than the IT3a is reporting.

An IT3a is issued when no PAYE has been deducted by the employer and paid over to SARS. However, PAYE is not the only possible deduction. For example there is also UIF which would be 1% of your earnings.

The employer should be providing you with a payslip that sets out all the details.
