[Question] Customs VAT & Duties on goods sold on the water

    Hi everyone,
    Please help.

If we import goods but sell them to another trader while they are still on the water - what are the VAT and duty implications?

One of our contacts has mentioned that they are not paying VAT/duties on similar transactions

Specific rules apply if I am not mistaken - yes some transactions don't attract VAT when these conditions are met. I have seen this is project type businesses.

I have an idea of what they are however would rather someone who is sure to answer. Alternatively SARS is your best bet for an answer in writing!

Are they still the importer in those transactions, or has that designation passed onto the purchaser?
      Participation is voluntary.
