    Charge for VAT registration

    Hi All,

    I trust you are well.

My client just asked why VAT registration is so expensive. And all honestly I have no idea. We just use the industry norm price for VAT registration but I would actually like to know why its so expensive?

    Thank you all

    What is the charge Craig?

VAT registration is probably the biggest pain in the butt of all registrations! The documentation required is not only onerous, it frequently changes and is often different between offices.

I even had one that was rejected earlier this month because the client did not have "3 months of bank statements", even though the account had only been open for 3 weeks! After laughing myself into a stupor I sent the client back and, because he simply saw another person, he had no problem whatsoever!

We Charge R2500 excl VAT for VAT registration and yes I agree the documentation is crazy..

Its interesting because a lot of firms charge R3500 for VAT registration and it only dawned when the client asked why its so expensive just to register. I've actually noticed that branches even call centres give different advice on matters.

        Hi Craig

That makes sense, because we charge R3,000 Excl. provided the client does the footwork at SARS, so I guess you might even be cheap!

If I take our normal charge out X hours spent on an application, we are in the ball park.

How can I get onto the RAV01 form

Searching for it is like finding a needle in a hay stack

              Good Day all,

We normally do vat registrations for our clients and our costs is R1800 and the vat number would be provided to you the same day.

                Hi All,

Please be aware Field 1 on the VAT 201 (output vat) is calculating vat at 14% instead of 15% for the march april period.

How do you get that right ? Normally the application gets uploaded at branch level and information is vetted at SARS HO. We have even had them sending inspectors to visit the business premises.

Lol if only it were that easy..

You have to input the 14% VAT for March in Field 1 and the 15% April VAT in field 12

SARS system uses an algorithm when the RAV01 is completed. If there is sufficient evidence of T/O or a compulsory registration it will automatically issue the VAT Number but the first submission will be audited/verified
