    [Question] IRP5/IT3(a)

    Hi There

I just have a quick question regarding IT3(a) certificates.

I started working for a tiny company in August last year, my salary and all the other workers amount is below the PAYE mark so I haven't been registered with SARS for PAYE but I have been registered for UIF which is deducted every month.

This is my question, most of my income in derived from rental income and interest income from various accounts so I need to submit a tax return every year for those earnings. I was told that because I earn under the PAYE scale the company does not need to issue me with a IT3(a), obviously I need to declare this income but if I tick the no box for IRP5/IT3(a) even though I have said I was employed for half the year it doesn't give me a place to declare that income.

Does anyone have any advise on what I should do and does a company have to issue a IT3(a) certificate even if you are below the PAYE scale and no deductions besides UIF come off?

    Thanks

    Debbie

Debbie - Im sure the boffins will answer you, but I have always over the years done IRP5's and IT3's. I have always been under the impression a company has to do it especially if they are deducting UIF ........

If the company is registered for PAYE, then absolutely yes.
I can only think the tiny company is tiny enough that it is not registered for PAYE.

I've also wondered about enterprises with employees that go the turnover tax route - a similar situation might arise.

I had what I feel is a pretty good article posted on the Newswire today about taxes.

        1. I hope it helps you in some way.

        2. Main reason I'm posting it, is because I want some feedback as to whether the information is correct and or if there's aspects that needs elaborating.

          This bit is a fallacy
Your employer might give you the IRT12 form, or they expect that you do e-Filing to which I will get in a moment.
otherwise it is accurate, if brief.
