    IRP5

    Hi,

I started a new business in January and have two full time employees. They both pay UIF (I submitted and paid as per EMP201 last month) but not PAYE. How do I generate IRP5s for them? And myself, although I did not draw any salary or income last month and won't this month either. I can't find the correct place on the SARS eFiling site.

    Thanks in advance.

And regarding the end of year EMP501. I don't know if I'm being dense or what, but the "4 easy steps" seem a bit cryptic: Download, Import, reconcile, Submit.... Download how? From where? Submit how? I've been going through dozens of dropdown menus but I can't seem to find the right place....

Please bear with me - once I've done it once I'll know. But it all seems pretty obscure to me at the moment.

    Thanks,

    Andre

I presume you are using this link to do your emp201 and vat :

Then to do your IRP5's you need to download and register with Easy File

        Hi,

Thanks for that. Yes. I have been doing my EMP201 submissions with eFiling. But I've tried before registering for easyfile. It seems to work with a Windows only app. I don't actually have a PC. Mac only.

Yeah I can't help you with that. I also have a Mac, but our accounts are on a separate computer with the easy file package.

You can get windows in parallel for your Mac if this might help you.

Thanks for that. I'll have to make a plan. I think I'll just install it on my wife's computer for now. EMP501 and IRP5s are only once a year...

Yes that might work. Emp501's are twice a year tho. Don't forget the August one.

                OK yes. Thanks

I managed to instal Easyfile on my Mac using Wine (Mac users will know what that is...). But should it have the same registration details as my eFiling registration?

No I don't think so - myne doesn't - it is totally separate - you can download the latest one.

                  Tell me about "Wine" ......

If you have 20 or less employees I'm pretty sure that you can do the EMP501s and generate the IRP5s via efiling, I too use a Mac and did this a couple of years ago but have subsequently had to buy a cheap windows machine just for e@syfile as I choose not to partition the Mac.

SARS collects taxes & customs. File returns, check balances & find branches. We build a compliant & prosperous South Africa.

"Employers should either use eFiling (For 20 IRP5/IT3(a)s or less) or e@syFile™ Employer to submit their declarations. These electronic channels are free, convenient and available 24/7."

Also, there are a number of cloud based payroll solutions which are very reasonable and ideal for Mac users who are happy not to use a desktop product:

SimplePay provides easy-to-use payroll software to simplify your payroll processing. Try it now for hassle-free payroll management.

Is your efiling profile registered to submit EMP501s? And, it's very early to be generating IRP5s now, if memory serves me correctly, I sent out last year's IRP5s on 31/05/16.

I've got Sage Payroll. Just need to sort out SARS procedures. I'm not sure whether I'm registered to submit EMP501s on eFiling. Can I edit it to include that? I know I've submitted EMP201s...

Ok, sign on to efiling then select 'Organisations' from the top menu bar then select 'Organisation Tax Types' from the vertical menu pane on the left and you'll see the EMP201- PAYE, SDL, UIF and the EMP 501 activation status for your profile. You can read from that page how to activate and de-activate.

Edit: Have a read from page 37 onwards of this external guide:
