For employers that issue manual IRP5 certificates.

I was wondering how SARS was going to handle the fact that individuals don't have to submit their IRP5 certificate when filing their tax returns this year. It seems they are going to be relying on data captured from employers' reconciliations (IRP501).

However, it seems there is a snag for those who don't make an electronic format return. We are going to have to complete a new form - an IRP511 - which for the 2007 tax year needs to be submitted by 28th September 2007.

I don't recall receiving a notice on this - it's something I stumbled on whilst admiring the new eFiling website.

The guide notice for this new IRP511 procedure is here.
If this applies to you, you can download the IRP511 return form here.

It might be an idea to pass this message on - I have not seen it well publicised.
