[Question] Release of profile - SARS

    Hi Guys

I have a client who has a dispute/ not happy with his soon to be ex tax practitioner. This tax practitioner won’t release the profile “Tax move request” I applied for via e-filing.
If I get this client to sign the “power of attorney” and go to SARS with it, will SARS release the profile?

    Thanks.

If you wait a week you will be able to do a taxpayer override anyway.

I read a SAIT article not long ago that indicated that while one could hold back working documents in one's possession, one could not hold back the transfer of the taxpayer's tax profile on eFiling.

Of course that doesn't deal with the professional ethics issues involved.
      Participation is voluntary.

The risk involved in holding back a client's efiling profile is just too big. Not a smart move IMHO.

What if returns are late because of this action? Or important audit correspondence not received?
