New payment reference number for IT/PAYE/VAT/Prov Tax payments
Hi Christel - thanks for keeping us in the loop. I don't quite understand the purpose of this though. I have read through the pdf guide. Is this only if you are paying from a different bank account or making a cash deposit?
No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted. - Aesop "The Lion and the Mouse"
The way I read it is that this process is for Cash payments / cheque payments and EFT payments. Credit Push will not be affected as this is an "e-filing generated" payment.
they have changed the PRN number, you can no longer use it. You have to create an "PAN" number for all income tax, paye, vat, prov tax payments.
I do so hope the bank validation measures have been updated too.
I have one company where we simply can't get the Credit Push functionality to work, so I've had to wrestle through PRN validation issues instead.
VAT is no problem - the PRN shows on the VAT201 form.
But there's no such luck when it comes to the EMP201 return. And SARS changed the methodology behind PRN generation just to add to the frustration. I've had to resort to the trailing 0's method of "period allocation" - which is very much less than satisfactory.
Perhaps this new method will prove to be better...
Your post had the question on VAT payment timing issues come to mind once again, so I decided to check if the VAT 404 Guide for Vendors had been updated.
Hooray - it has. No more sweating about just what the deadline is for filing the return via eFiling and paying via EFT anymore. But anyone planning to pay over the counter at SARS or your bank might want to take a close look at the updated deadline table...
