Instalment arrangement on VAT/ Income Tax payable

    Hi,

Does anyone have any advise on instalment arrangements for both VAT and Income Tax, ie:

    1) Does SARS allow for instalment arrangements on both VAT and Income Tax?

    2) What is the process that needs to be followed to obtain an instalment arrangement?

    3) What is the period that SARS normally grants instalment arrangements for?

    Thank you!

    J7J,
I made a few arrangements for clients, but I have to say it's about 18 months ago, so everything might have changed.

They made arrangement for three months without any documentation being submitted. I simply asked the person who phoned me to collect for an arrangement.

When you want to make an arrangement for more than 3 months, it's not that simple though. They asked for cash flow projections, age analysis of debtors and creditors and bank statements, and I had to fill out a form. The best arrangement I could get, was for 6 months. But remember to ask them to confirm the arrangement in writing, just to be safe, and keep to the arrangement!

One tax type I know they do not make arrangments for, is provisional tax.

But as I said, this was +-18 months ago, so everything might have changed... Hope this helps! Would also like to know if the process have changed.

Unlikely to make an arrangement for VAT. You are only acting as an agent. The view is therefore that it was never your money in the first instance.

      Good luck

Arrangements can be made, visit nearest SARS office will all documents concering the issue
They may also request financials or auditors report or letters, some sort of official docs that will give them comfort on the status
But, you can get clear direction at SARS offices as they treat each case differently...auditors know the drill
