[Question] Employee Income Tax numbers on IRP5's

Out of 248 employees on my payroll, only 1 person didn't give us his tax number. He has left our company, but I must submit the EMP501 on Wednesday. So our submission will be incomplete in that 1 employee's tax number is not included. Will I be penalised for this?

As long as you have the ID number in, you should be fine. About a month ago I was told by SARS that there is currently no penalty for failing to furnish the employee's income tax number on the IRP5. (Of course they frown on it, but no penalty just yet).

There's a bit more information in this thread that should be cause for cautious optimism.

Of course we are talking SARS here - just full of surprises at times
