    [Question] Dubai Debt

I had to leave Dubai overnight as my Employer stopped paying our salaries and I knew I would be jailed for bad debt. Those debts have been handed over to South African Collection Agents. Can a judgement be passed against me? They told me that they have blacklisted me as I cannot pay the amount owed in full. They have refused a payment plan as I am only able to pay small monthly installments. How long will my blacklist remain on Experian?

Hi Clair, welcome to the forum.

I'm sure someone more qualified than I am will give you some pointers but the more details you can give the easier it is to advise.
How long ago was the debt incurred in Dubai? What ballpark figure are we talking about? Was there any kind of court action/judgement taken on the Dubai side? Who is attempting to collect this debt in SA?

I'm guessing that by having already offered a payment plan you've legally acknowledged the debt so they might not need a judgement.

If you scroll down to the bottom of the page there's a list of similar threads that might have some relevant info.
