[Question] debt by company to employee without my knowledge please help

hi there I started working for a company in 2015 with there knowledge that I had to go for a big operation in 2016.but the medical scheme that I were on was to low to cover all medical cost so I phoned my employer to let them know that they have to change my medical scheme to the scheme that would cover it.

they pay a 1800 rand on my medical that I was on so what I asked for is that I would pay the difference my self that was 4500 but they offered to pay it for me for a year.
then I would forfeit my increase for the year 2016.i agreed upon that.then the owner of the company said that I would get the difference of the medical bill that they paying in 2016 for a increase in 2016 when I lower my medical scheme in 2017 that I did. now they keep me responsible for 48000 that I need to pay back to them because that's what they paid extra in 2016 on my medical scheme.so for that matter I don't receive any increase now but its states in my contract that I have to get increase every July.


please help and what can I do

If there is still an amount owing back to the company then your increase should be forfeited. They helped you out on the condition that it was all paid back.
