You had a backup system installed in 2022, if you are connected to Eskom or the municipality, you should be registered right?
If Eskom is your grid supply then you should be fine until March 2026, Apparently Eskom has rolled out a public awareness program to make the public aware that you must register your SSEG and allowed a grace period until March 2026 and apparently the registration is free.
Now the big question: what is an SSEG and who must register, this seems to be the challenge.
If your grip power is supplied by a municipality, then you need to check with your municipality, if they have rolled out an SSEG public awareness program or offer a grace period until March 2026, I am not aware of any such programs or grace period.
To complicate things, many of the products sold in the SSEG industry are not NRS 097 approved.
This is a list I found which applies to the Cape.
I believe the real challenge in the SSEG industry is not, if the people installing the equipment are suitably skilled, but more the lack of information and clear cut regulations. If we cant agree on the neutral/earth bond or lightning earthing and bonding or the type of wireway used for DC cabling., then how are we going to move forward.
