Inverters, open and exposed wiring in roof

I am not in the inverter installation business, but on many inverter installations, from an outsiders point of view the work looks generally
    neat and tidy.
When getting into the roof space a completely different story. open exposed wiring, some from solar panels and some from DB going through
roof space to a separate db for inverter.

My question is, is this the norm, or how would a top solar inverter company do his roof workClick image for larger version

There is no such thing as a Solar Inverter company - There are Registered Electrical contractors that specialize in Solar installs - If they are not registered , then they are illegal operators out to scam people

So his roof work should be like any other electrical contractor and works out of the same set of regulations

I just smiled when I read this part.

When last did you climb in a roof space(the big junction box) ? In most cases you cant tell the difference between the alarm wires, CCTV wires and the electrical installation

Most of you guys work in a city where civilization is still alive. Around here we are far from a decent shop or hardware and Boers know about maak 'n plan. I frequently get called out to an installation and I have to fix the mess Tom, Dick, and Harry made.

A few days ago a cheap DIY pv installation attracted a lightning discharge. Now it is about R250000 damage later and they are sorry they did not do it right the first time
So solar installation is a case of watching YouTube, beg and borrow and buying all the specials, and doing it yourself and you save a bundle.
The law safety and the rest are just not important until something blows up or burns off
I will post a few pictures later
        Greetings

The people are forced into a situation where they dont really have a choice, then everyone makes them out to be these terrible humans who make bad choices.

Dealing with type this crap on a daily basis has open my eyes to the reality of what happens outside the Truman bubble, the majority of people in SA dont live in the little bubbles and dont have access to endless streams of cash.

The workmanship is a reflection of the training, mentorship and lack of leadership in the DOL. It all starts at the top. Until a person with the correct qualifications, skills and passion to lead this industry out of the hole it has fallen into, we will win the race to the bottom.

It is sad for a person like myself who has working in this industry my entire life, who was once proud to be an electrician, witness the slow deterioration into a pit.

When you have plumber comment to a customer about how impressed he was with the job I did on site, not becaue the job was anything to brag about, just because he is so use to seeing other installation he has worked with electrician and their terrible workmanship.

The electrical industy is a joke and until someone stands up and takes the bull by the horns and sorts it out, nothing is going to improve.
