    Question on solar system

    Good day all.
If I may ask installation of a solar system it need master installation certificate or it fall under a specialized installation because of the batteries since it use chemicals. I m referring to the issuing of coc.

For a couple of batteries in a mobile backup system, maybe not, but if you are doing an installation 50 lead acid batteries, you might consider getting someone to verify if the area should be classified.

There are many different types of batteries, which I believe should have a specific set of installation guidelines.

Just because a chemical is used it doent make it dangerous, There are many considerations taken into account when classifying an area, type of substance, air movement and volume of air movement.

To give you a few examples:

Normal flooded lead acid batteries, the ones you can top up.

Then you get sealed lead acid batteries

      Gel batteries

      AGM batteries

Then there is a list of lithium type batteries.

The different batteries pose different challenges, some the volume of gas released while charging, the older they get the more they release.

Then you get lithium batteries which are enclosed in a metal box, with a built in BMS to protect the cells from a variety of issues, like over charging or over heating.

How dangerous are these lithium batteries and what precautions should be taken, well thats a discussion for another day
