Hi

Not sure where you have got your dates from and have no idea what NLI is meant to stand for.

The document was published in July 2020 and superseded the previous editions besides the test reports which could be used in parallel for 12 months
Foreword pasted below

SANS 10142-1:2020
Edition 3
Foreword
This South African standard was prepared by National Committee
SABS/TC 067/SC 06, Electricity distribution systems and components –
Installations, in accordance with procedures of the South African Bureau of
Standards, in compliance with annex 3 of the WTO/TBT agreement.
This document was approved for publication in July 2020.
This document supersedes SANS 10142-1:2017 (edition 2)
.
The test report in edition 2 may be used in parallel with the test report in
edition 3 for a period of 12 months from the date of publication of edition 3.
With the first edition of this part of SANS 10142, the standard was subdivided
and now consists of the following parts, under the general title The wiring of
premises:
Part 1: Low-voltage installations.
Part 1-1: Low-voltage installation in medical locations
Part 1-2: Additional special requirements for low voltage small scale
embedded generator installations connected in parallel to the normal electrical
supply
Part 2: Medium-voltage installations above 1 kV a.c. not exceeding 22 kV a.c.
and up to and including 3 MVA installed capacity.
Table 4.1 contains a list of the applicable standards for the components that
may be installed in an electrical installation.
Information on national legislation that applies only in South Africa is given in
text boxes in the introduction (see page 3).
To ensure that this part of SANS 10142 is always up to date, amendments will
be introduced regularly. Each change made to the text as a result of an
amendment is/will be indicated in the margin by the number of the
amendment.
Annex I forms an integral part of this document. Annexes A, B, C, D, E, F, G,
H, J, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q and R are for information only.
Compliance with this document cannot confer immunity from legal
obligations.

UNDERSTANDING THE NEW NEUTRAL LOOP IMPEDANCE TEST IN SANS 10142-1 EDITION 3
16TH APR 2021 ERIKA VAN ZYL
Anthony Schewitz, the ECA’s Technical Adviser’s article on the neutral loop impedance test in Edition 3 of SANS 10142-1 covers the new requirements for the verification of neutral loop impedance that electrical contractors will now have to use when completing CoCs. This article seeks to answer the typical questions received by the ECA since the new test report was published in July 2020. Electrical contractors can download Anthony’s article that was featured in the March-April issue of SA Electrical Contractor.

Just ensure your tester can perform this test.Basically you connect neutral and earth probes together on your tester and test between loop L-N on the main switch isolated on the incoming main cable at the top of the main switch same as PSCC this is only PFC and can also be calculated from the loop impedance. Ensures integrity on incoming neutral both readings should be the same PSCC=PFC

For some reason I cannot upload a photo taken of that table, but what size (mm sq) is the cabtyre. I can check the table and answer you.

For a 4mm2 cable , 3phase balanced load

10 Amp circuit breaker 209 meters max

15 Amp circuit breaker 139 meters max

20 Amp circuit breaker 104 meters max

25 Amp circuit breaker 83 meters max

30 Amp circuit breaker 69 meters max

Hope this helps, brother.

So for 100 meters of 4mm cable, the largest breaker you can use is 20 Amp.
