    Helacon lux connectors

So I collected the connectors today to try them out ... a bit riddiculous at just under R4 per connector for a 2 way ... hey it is what it is.

The 1 in 1 out are around R3.50 each and the 2 in and 1 out are R3.90 each ... why buy the 1 in 1 out ...bit of a no brainer to just buy the 2 in 1 out for 40 cents more.

As with everything they have pros and cons

Pros ... quick and easy to install ... no screwits and sticky tape ... no connectors screws which can come loose etc etc.

They work like a bomb on solid wires like 1.5 mm twin+E

Cons ... They dont work so well with 1.5 mm house wire and secondly you need to make sure you dont force then into a tight spaces like a junction box in a slab ... the spring loaded connection could come loose. They are slightly bigger than the Wago 2 way connector ... but a little cheaper.

    Features
Best suitable to connect solid with flexible wire
Combines push-in connector with lock / unlock spring mechanism
For solid, stranded and fine-stranded conductors at lighting input from 0.5 to 2.5 mm˛
For solid wires from 0.75 up to 2.5 mm˛ on the installation side
    Use with typical housing current of 450 V / 24 A
Either one or two inputs for solid conductor on installation side
    Very flexible application
Tool-free application for easy, time-saving, safe connection
Especially for overhead work and when wires are difficult to access

I use Helicoms all the time. I don't pay that much for them though. Your supplier is ripping it a bit.

I think I'm on about R2.20 for the yellow 2 way ones.

Yip you are talking about a HECP-2 ... 2 way connector ... they cost about R2.20 including vat.

The one I am refering to above is a HECL-2/1 ... if you can get them for R2.20 ... please pm the supplier.

This is the wago lighting connector.

I have just finished rewiring a domestic installations and I use the various helacon connectors ... what a pleasure ... it added around R850 to the job ... but saved more than 2 hours labour and the customer will be doing a bit of DIY lighting etc ... so I made his life way easier ... all the connectors are installed and ready for the lights ... it also makes it safer because the main wiring I used the HECP type connectors ...so he cant remove the wires ... and the the light connections are HECL type so all he has to do is switch off the main swith ... squeeze the connector and push in the light fitting wires.
