    Is Twitter breaking down?

I can't believe the number of HTTP 500 errors (internal server errors) trying to work with Twitter is producing.

    Is it just me?
Is it something to do with our shabby international connections from here in South Africa?
Or is Twitter struggling with the load?

Vodacom 3g at the moment. I'll try over Telkom ADSL sometime tomorrow.

Have you tried a service like tweetdeck. I use that and have not had that problem.
BTW I am still trying to find the value in twitter so am hanging in. Most "twitts" I get are on how to get more followers. Why is that important?

I personally don't find twitter very user friendly!

Ian, I agree. And how do you really find like-minded people?

I've been using Twitter for a while, but can also not really find the value for business in it.
More followers, means you can distribute your message (tweet) to a wider audience, but that is like a shotgun approach in marketing - you just shoot and hope 1 in a million will be hit.

What I must say is that it did increase traffic to my website a bit. Traffic for one is good, but I would rather like it to be "targeted" traffic to try and monitise it

Will in any case continue with twitter, maybe I still miss something

I went to a Social Media presentation last night. Most browsers on the net want to be entertained, learn, socialise and maybe do a bit of business. So we should try and fit into that model. What you should do is search on Facebook for social media IQ and go and look at that page. Those are the guys that gave the talk and they keep up with the trends.
This is a whole new chapter if we can get the net to work nicely in SA.

                  Thanks Ian, will do that.

I agree, we need to keep up with the trends.

Twitter is a social media broadcast hub. It is simply one of the key social media marketing platforms available today.

Building a twitter following can result in a social media flood of traffic. The trick is having a solid description in your Twitter account of what your core interest is and also to have your Twitter account accessible from your websites and other online locations such as forum sigs and profiles.

It is an easy way for people to then keep track of what you are keeping yourself busy with. Broadcasting new blog entries or new product launches suddenly takes on a new meaning as it has the ability to broadcast it very quickly even in FB. The networking opportunities are huge. Twitter certainly is a must have!
