    [Question] SARS and Adobe Reader?

    Hi Guys

Maybe someone can help with this problem, or tell me what I'm doing wrong?

I have been trying to submit my SARS e-filing online for about a month already, I go onto the SARS Efiling site and open my IT12 return, change/update/edit the information and then click on the "SAVE ONLINE" and "FILE" buttons at the top of the form and here's where the problem comes in.

Adobe returns the error "cannot handle content type: text/html; charset=utf-8". I have no clue what this is telling me and I'm not sure that my submissin has been received. When I check the SARS site my profile reflects that my return has been saved, but a subsequent search for my return gives me "no returns for this user"?

I am using Adobe Reader ver 8.1.3.

    Does anyone have any clues?

You probably need to upgrade to Adobe ver 9.0.0 or higher for the interactive functionality to work properly. I had a terrible time with this until I did the Adobe version upgrade. Since then the program has worked great.

ps. Try the Adobe upgrade and if it solves the problem, make a post to let us know. I'm sure you'll not be the only one with the problem.

Are you using IE or Firefox? Try using IE (if not). I kind of remember that I had a similar problem last year, but this year seemed to go smoothly.

        Sars and Adobe

        Thanks Guys,

Yes I have updated Acrobat to ver 9, the problem still remains.

Duncan, I am using Firefox, I will try again with IE7. You might be right that it can be a firefox problem, I know Acrobat has had some compatibility issues in the past.

        I'll keep you posted

          SARS Efiling and Acrobat update

I have got the problem sorted.

For anyone with the same or similar problem: SARS Efiling and Adobe Acrobat do not function correctly under Firefox.

I upgraded to Acrobat 9 and changed to IE7 and the problem was solved.

Thanks Dave and Duncan for the tips.
