How do I go about converting a word document to a Pdf file with the option of a password facility.
    Thanks

As far as I know it does. I used the older version before and it had a password facility.

pdftk can do it all, but is only for command line use. PDF555 has a fancy GUI, and can also do it all.

I didn't realise that PDFCreator could apply passwords to docs, so I had a closer look....

When you print, the dialogue for naming the file comes up. Click on options. There is a menu in the bottom left, click on PDF. On the right there are tabs, click on the security tab. Then click the "USe Security" check box. Figure out what options you need, and then save. When you save the file it will ask you for a password.

This is a nice way of generating SARS compliant electronic VAT invoices. You would need to select the following options,

                1) Encryption level = High (128 bit)
                2) Password required to change permissions and passwords
                3) Disallow user to "Modify document" and "Modify comments"

                Visual instructions....

Given that I've been getting a steady drip in my inbox about a PDF converter that "only" costs 79 Euros, this thread is manna from heaven.

                      Thanks everyone.

                        Dave,
It looks as if I should have asked this question a long time ago! You may pass half of the 79 Euros on to me and it will still be a bargain!
