    Yambu

That the best scam i have seen yet. Yesterday i got sms after sms from +27839196167 offering me legal cover from a company called Yambu. http://www.yambu.co.za

The part that pissed me off, i must sms STOP to 40009 to opt out and pay R1.50 to STOP the sms. So i go to their website and see a highlighted area with a notification, if you want to join sms 40009 at a cost of R1.50.

I should try that with my bussiness hound people with spam and tell them they must pay to opt out of the spam....eeeeeish something doesnt sound right here.

It would be interesting to hear from thier "LEGAL" team.

Something else i noticed this number *0860 88 88 37 VAS rates apply when calling this number and free minutes do not apply.

    What are VAS rates?

So how do i sign up this type of spam, where the customer has to pay to opt out of the spam. then i can send out millions of sms and get rich when people want to opt out, genius, why didnt i think of this months ago. Find all the married men and women, send them porn and they will want to opt out before the hubby or wife sees it

As far as I am aware it is illegal to automatically opt people in.

Maybe Yambo(being a legal advice company and all) can explain how they got my number, so i can use the same method they used to spread the spam.

Yambo is a legal advice company. I saw them advertise on TV. What I find interesting is when I changed my cellphone from being on contract to being pay as you go i suddenly started getting lots and lots of those sort of messages....maybe there is something to the fact that one is able to purchase airtime via 3rd parties. Could it be that 3rd parties are allowed to use and give out cellphone numbers...food for thought.

Now i get a call from them sometimes twice a day, if i answer it just goes off. Going to the police station and open a case against them, them i am going to do the same thing i did to other TV license company, gona call their office and get advice from their lawyers, waste their time and ask the same question how do i take legal action against a company which will not stop bothering me and see what the response is. Maybe they will be a little more polite than the other lawyer firm
