Hi All

I am in the process of marketing an E Book and Informational products, what would you say is the most effective way to do this?? I understand online is the way to go.

The problem is I would first like to build up a database of interested people and then take it from there. I would just like to first advertise somewhere as I dont have a website yet.

Would appreciate some advice.

You can create a marketing campaign to build a brand amongst people for your products, create a craze that you're gonna launch the product and it should create a hype. However building a database will not be easy without a website, to build a decent list you will at least need some sorts of things which will help you collect leads. I would get a website done with coming soon page and getting the people subscribed for future.

I would agree you need to have a website even if it's just a one page landing page. I'm not any expert but you could create some kind of funnel. Use google adwords or any other ad networks to send people to your website > get them to enter their email address > you give them something free and of value in return > you get their email address and up sell your ebook to them > place the link to your ebook in the free report you give to them > also send them regular emails promoting your ebook.

I've also heard big things about selling ebooks on Kindle, you could look into that as well.

Set up a simple web site and start recording everything you do, all the advice you get. Make yourself useful and interact within your target market. Then set up a second and third site. Start specialising in niche areas where you get the most response. Build the resources you wished someone else had done before you.

Selling informational products online can be very complex. But ideally you need to setup a blog and start writing about the topics of the info products. Build an audience with a newsletter subscription form and social media. The trick is to never try and sell a product, but letting people understand how the product can benefit them.

You definitely need to have a website first.

That is your starting point / landing page. Just a simple one will do. This is where you will ask them to subscribe so you can build your list.

If you have a very interesting book, they will subscribe to it and eventually buy the product.

As you can do regarding the ebook is register with forums related to the ebook for example if u want to sell a ebook on weight loss can would Google selected keywords and find forums, from there you check there ranking on alexa and also make sure the forum us popular, once you have found a couple of forums signup, introduce your self and start posting of topics related to your ebook and once you have enough reputation add your ebook and website in your signature as this helps with SEO and Sales. Sorry for the late reply, ok I understand now, I was trying to explain the strategy I use when I need to Sell ebooks for clients, let me try explain in a point format.

1. I search for forums relating to the ebook im trying to sell
2. I check there ranking on alexa to make sure they are reputable and get lots of activity
3. Then I encourage my clients to start posting threads or answering them as they have the knowledge
4. Once they have gained reputation and are allowed to have signatures we load a link to the ebook (website included) in the sigs

I ask my clients to join at least 5 forums relevant to there niche and make around 5 posts a day on each forum as these improves awareness and help with back linking.

Having a landing page is quiet necessary because you need to send the traffic to a site where they will learn more about the product and get to know the seller better as well as you can build a mailing list that easily.

Detail you forgot to put in is: are you giving the book away for free or selling it. cause if you are selling it you should look at Amazon.

These days you don't even have to sweat on building a website, there are so many web designers in South Africa.
