    [Question] Advertising viability

    Hi all

I have a online shop and I would like your opinions as to whether or not you think this is a good advertising deal.

    The deal:

I pay R750 to put my ad on a very well known website for a week that gets 7500 views a week(1071 views a day)?

    What do you guy think?

Assuming you get 7500 impressions, that works out at a CPM of R100, which best I can tell is fairly steep. It would have to be exceptionally relevant and effective advertising...

I wouldn't take it 7500 views, click through 1 % 75 views, 1 sale from 100 views good chance of selling nothing. But my figures are thumbsucked.

        Ask yourself
'How many people read the adverts in the banner at the top or FSA?'

Hi guy's thanks for the reply's.

So what would you suggest to advertise my site?I was looking at facebook advertising where you pay per click and set a daily limit, but looking at IanF's ratio that can get expensive. What do you think?Because I need a way to get my site more out there.

I'm told that Reebok-net is the best way to get your business out there.

I would try google adwords. Just don't let them set the rate for clicks limit it to say 50 cents per click. Also don't use a coupon as we did and could not get them to change it to the prepay option that adwords stop when your credit is up. So we have cancelled that account and will try the prepay option again in a week or two.

LOOM we do get good results just limited the max per click. I can't see profit from a R20 click for business cards.

I'm restricted by Google Adsense's Terms of Service as to what I may disclose so I must choose my words wisely.

Kinda sums things up - on top of relevance to the audience, where the ad is and who is seeing it really matters.

I think it's safe to say the ad shown to the members does not perform nearly as well as any of the ads shown to visitors. The member ad does still get the occassional click though - so ad blindness to "regulars" is not absolute - it just significantly hurts performance. Ultimately it's the visitors that pay the bills when it comes to TFSA. (And for the record I'm OK with that - please don't go changing any habits to "help" because it can inadvertently cause problems.)

Hopefully that'll help you evaluate where you're planning to advertise (at least add a little to the picture).

I used 'Gumtree' to advertise my granny flat for free, it went the same day,
Ad in by 8AM, shows at about 12AM, flat let at 6PM, advert cancelled by 6.30PM.
Surely 'Gumtree, OLX, Hotfrog' etc is the way to start?
