A Case Study in China QC Control

    Hi all,

Interesting case study that I've been working on.

We are currently working with a major USA importer of garments from China and Vietnam.

When they first approached us, they were enduring endless quality issues and tolerance non-conformities.

We put together an inspection program for them, with weekly DUPRO & Final Random Inspections. Over the course of the last four months, we have done analysis and have seen a marked improvement in the quality, with just an occasional failure in AQL. This has had a two-fold benefit: 1. - the USA client is having to make fewer trips to China, his onward clients are more satisfied. 2. - The supplier/factory is happier as well, as they are having to pay less compensation for defective shipments, the client is off their backs. A nice win-win situation.

This is not to say that it is fool-proof, that is why even though the quality is better, the USA client is persisting with the inspection program.

    Cheers,
    Max

Why are the QC measures from the side of the factory so inadequate in the first place?? Instead of the customer having to employ you maybe the factory should offer you a full time contract.

Lack of trust between people, may be if the factory offer MAX a full time, the client would not believe them.

Third-party inspection is the most reliable way of enforcing quality. If they hire me full time, I loose the ability to provide impartial evaluation of quality standards (ie. my salary).

Shani is correct, i would also loose end-client trust - as who is paying me at the end of the day.

Third-party QC - as I do now - ears and eyes on the ground, in the end client's interests only...

        Cheers
