    Excess Inventory

    Hi,

    I would like to know if there is a place in SA where places like Makro or any other store is able to sell their excess inventory to minimisie losses? Can a business for instance go to Makro and offer to purchase excess inventory form them? Any help would be appreciated.

    Makro tends to flush their standing and tail-end stock by using aggressive discounting. I know I've picked up a few PCs pretty cheap that way over the years.

    You can only try. Who knows, there may be lines of goods where they'd be open to an approach.

      Thanks for the reply, I have seen sites in the states where companies ell excess sotck but with import costs it wont make it worth it to purchase stock their and bring it into SA. I will contact Makro and see what they say, thats if I get a reply.

        Clearing end-of-run stock is definitely a major business in the USA. I believe it's where Best Buy sources most of their stock - and they're no small operation!

        Good luck with it.

          I am looking at this from my own business perspective.

          We produce food and there is nothing more uncivilised than throwing it away.

          I am busy setting up a pipeline:
          Sale -> Target Market.
          Unsold -> Pre-package and give to retailers @ discount.
          Unsold -> Give to Charity.

          If you're interested in receiving several portions a day in food I can help
          But I'm in Pretoria, so you know..

              It's hard pap, chicken & sauce with packaging and a spoon.

              We retail it to plate to all office parks, construction sites, garages, and workshops in the Pretoria East area.
              Every Day there are several plates of food left unsold. Our business day starts at 8:30am, and ends at 1pm.
