Global Sources Hong Kong Trade Fair

Hi all,

So, October is a busy month with the HKTDC Fair, Canton Fair, and also the Global Sources Fair, next to Hong Kong Airport...

It's a good opportunity to meet new suppliers and see developing trends. Of course, what you see at the fair, and what is reality (factory-wise) can be chalk-and-cheese, so be careful, and don't sign any PO's at the fair, even if the price/terms are very favourable.

I'll be at the GS fair on Thursday if anyone is going to be there...

Hi all,

Just a quick update regarding my observations at the HK Global Sources Show in HK...

1. A LOT less suppliers from Southern China - more from up north - ShanDong, ZheJiang, and up towards QingDao

2. The non-Chinese suppliers (India, Vietnam, S.Korea etc) have really upped their game, and looking competitive - generally a lot more professional than previous years - a number of clients that I met asked about QC inspections in New Delhi and Mumbai - which we now have inspectors for.

3. More European exhibitors - aiming at the high-end luxury market within China.

4. Visitors to the fair - my guesstimate is approx 50% USA/Canada/Mexico - 20% EU - 10% Russian - 20% R.O.W.


It'll be interesting to compare notes after Canton Fair.
