information needed on importing and vat

Hi all,

I need some help and advice on the following.
When one imports into South Africa the customs duty and vat that is payable, I was told that you get the vat back when you submit your returns to SARS??? Is that true?

When one works out there landed cost, and am not sure if I must still add vat onto my price(Am not vat registered).

If I have to add vat on, do i A: add vat on total or
B: add vat on my mark-up

You cannot claim VAT back if you are not registered. So your cost will be inclusive of VAT and you simply add your markup. You cannot show any VAT on your invoice to your customer.
