[Question] How do I start a non profit orginisation?

Hi there.
My name is suzette and I am interested in starting a business. I live in Vanderbijlpark. A friend of mine has a disabled child of 20 years old. There is a big need for care centre's for the disabled adult. They can go to school until they are 18, but what happens after that. There are centre's around but they usually have a waiting list and can handle only so many people. We have decided and have the passion for these people and would like to open such an centre. What now? I have no idea how to go about registering the centre and what is needed. Any ideas????? Anybody...

I've never done this but here are two suggestions:

1) Go to the other centres and ask them what they did.
2) Visit www.cipc.co.za and have a look at their "Not for profit" company registration process.

Registering it is the easy bit. Obtaining adequate funding is normally where the rubber meets the road in this sort of venture.
