Absa iPayroll

Each time I log into Absa's internet banking I wonder how well iPayroll works. I don't do my business banking through Absa and can't try it out myself, so I was wondering whether anyone here had tried it?

There are two components to the payment structure of this service:

iPayroll
iPayroll will charge you on an usage basis as indicated below. The charges will be debited to your account at month end.
iPayroll charges per pay slip (excl. VAT)

Monthly paid employee R7-00
Fortnightly paid employee R6-00
Weekly paid employee R5-00

Note: The charges include the Electronic Funds transfer (EFT) fees of the nett salary paid to the employee
Other iPayroll charges per payment (excl. VAT)

Additional pay slip with payment generated per employee R5-00


Absa Internet Banking
The normal financial transaction fee will be charged on a monthly basis with the rest of the Internet Banking fee, currently this fee is
R4-62 (inclusive of VAT)

It could be a winner.

I looked at payroll software solutions last year. The trouble with local off-the-shelf solutions is that the fee is dependant on your number of employees, the magical dividing line in my case being 30. They wanted to charge an extra R2000.00 for the software because I would have a payroll of 32. Exactly the same software and functionality as for under 30, just at a higher price. The official reason - because they experience more support issues with bigger payrolls. I'm not buying that.

I see Quickbooks has now come out with a payroll program for South Africa, but I haven't managed to explore the details on that yet.

goto: www.labournet.com: you click on services => payment solutions => labournet ipay you can test drive the same app from there. if you are paying the odd 1 to 15 employees or your domestic worker this will be just fine. you will be guided through a setup wizard guiding you in setting up your payroll with bussiness rules. adding employees and finaly paying them.
