[Question] Point of Sale Software - Bookshops

    Hi All,
We’re in the process of setting up an independent bookshop. Does anyone have any idea what sort of point of sale software the big guys i.e. Xclusive Books, etc use for their business? Is it custom made by any chance or strictly an out of the box solution?

    Many thanks in advance.

This link could assist you to hone in on what software they 'may' be using.

Google search string "Exclusive books south africa point of sale software".
In search of South African Technology Nuggets(R), for sale & trading in South East Asia.

        Hi Nigel,

It occurred to me that what the big guys are running is probably not what you want as an SMME. Their software is likely to have all kinds of bells and whistles that you don't need.

You might actually be better off listening to what Neville suggests/has to offer and making your mind up from there.

I have tried quite a few POS systems the easiest to use was from Denver Research. I see they have a book shop one as well, with a free demo.

http://www.denverresearch.com/POS/posbook.shtml, I suggest you try it - I have been using the general one for over a year and have been very happy with it.

You can use bar codes but it is generally easier and less time consuming to use a 2 line price gun. Top for code, bottom for price. In SA the best are from Meto, importers lithograph.
