    Payroll outsourcing

What do people think of the concept of outsourcing their payroll? I have recently joined a company where I am responsible for selling the solution of payroll outsourcing. So what is the general consensus?

I'm in the restaurant industry and I outsource the payroll. I think it's well worth the money in terms of the effort it would take me to do my own, considering as well that the payroll company also takes care of many human resources functions such as disciplinary hearings and CCMA meetings. I have around 10 employees and I pay R500 a month. I think price point is an important factor when selling the product. Hope this helps..

      Curiosity

      Hello Emporacci

Out of Curiosity, are you using a labour broker to perform the function? and do they charge more for the disciplinary service?

I am asking because my company has the capability to do this but it's not part of our service.

        Hi,

Yes it is a labour broker that we pay a set fee for per month. The disciplinary function isn't extra. But we use it so rarely I guess they benefit in the end of the day.

Well I work for a labour broker who performs the same function, basically we offer similar services, if you ever need an alternative quote contact me at workforce payrolling.

But generally it seems a lot of companies are slowly opening up to the idea, although their are some who are very weary of handing their money over.

in my point of views pay roll outsourcing is more beneficial as it saves the valuable management time and provide a glance to the management to overlook other works to handle and to use their employs in more adequate manners.
payroll outsourcing also reduced the errors possibilities and keep transactions flow in accurate and appropriate manners.

                    Hi everyone,

I would also get your point of view on outsourcing only the payroll function and not the HR part.

Do you think there is a market for that?

What kind of industries or small businesses would make use of a company doing only their payroll?

                    Thank you

Speaking for myself, using payroll software costs me under R1000 per year, and once it's set up the info I have to put into the system is no more than I'd have to give if I was outsourcing the function.

If I outsourced, the cost would be around R7500 per year.

The way I see it, outsourcing HR probably has a future, but if all you do is process a payroll I'd be concerned. The actual job done by a payroll outsourcing company is just as easily replaced by a good software program.
