    Workmans Comp - I think

Just received some forms in the post from the dept. Labour. W.As.8

    Is this for workmans compensation?
I am in retail - do I still need to fill this out?
Approx how much will this cost per year on gross salaries of R150,000?

    Cheers

Yep - that would be Workmans Compensation.

I doubt the IOD claims rate is very high in retail, so I'd guess expect a bill of around 1-2% of annual payroll. Probably closer to 1% than 2%.
    Participation is voluntary.

Cheers for that Dave. Just another tax - but I guess this one makes a certain amount of sense - if they actually do pay out.

The claims process is a bit cumbersome and I'm sure payment isn't immediate, but an IOD on Workmens Compensation injury gets an admission to pretty decent hospitals without a problem - so it must be good enough to keep the hospitals happy.
