    Show House Every Sunday

    Hi All,

I have been wondering about this.

Is it legal to have a show house every sunday until the place is sold when one has tenants that stay on the property and have to keep their area's open for the public to come look?

Is there some sort of rule to how a show house works and do the tenants have rights to amount of time it can run for?

    Thanks

Obviously your lease agreement is the main source of guidance. I trust you have a written lease. Normally, there is some sort of provision for reasonable access for inspection and maintenance.

In saying that, I think most lease agreements are silent on access for regular show houses, which means your landlord could be out of line.

I'm pretty sure Sieg will have the definitive answer on this. I'll drop him a line in the morning - hopefully he'll have a moment to help. But it really is a manic time of year.

Hi Snoopy..i did the estate agent thing way back when . I recall when it was'nt written or stipulated in the original document we were advised to negotiate with the tenant to common ground in time and what would be overstepping the mark in their eyes. There are tenants you can and can't work around. EG:An un-cooperative tenant needs some reassurances in order for cooperation. Sieg would be your man here!!
