Need to find an SA telephone number

I need to trace the telephone number of my brother, or his two sons, in South Africa.

In the past, I used Telkom's white pages directory & located my nephew in the Easter Cape. I tried tonight, but can't trace the surname. We have been out of touch telephonically for some years while I've been abroad.

I suspect that they may be on mobile numbers & need to try & locate them.

The surname is 'Aubery'. I would be most grateful if someone could assist me in this regard, or to at least direct me to a decent search engine for mobile telephone numbers. The surname is an odd one - there are not that many of us in SA, oddly-enough.

I also have my brother's physical address in JHB.

    Thanks in advance.

Thanks, but not sure this would be required at this stage.

I'm happy to search, based on public domain search engines. I just need links to the main mobile telephone services, I'd imagine.

I'm not sure there is a directory for mobile telephone numbers. Certainly I've never come across one. And I don't recall a checkbox as to whether to allow a listing in a directory service with any mobile phone application forms I've ever filled in.

Telkom's directory enquiries is 10216 (if they have a landline in their name).

EDIT: Aha! Perhaps this might help. Do a search in the residential section.

^ I have a P.O. Box address - that's all at the moment. Must have gone off Telkom.

Are there any other landline services in SA, besides Telkom? The son was in the eastern cape, as memory serves. The older son lives in Honeydew. Perhaps their numbers are not listed?

There's Neotel - pretty new and I haven't seen any sign of a directory from them as yet.

Thanks everyone for your help. This request has a happy ending.

I had a thought that my brother's number would be saved on an old mobile phone. It was. Tried the number an hour, or so ago, & we connected.

A very interesting tale of two brothers separated early on in life, never really knowing each other. I was only told of my brother when I was 16 years old, but given no contact details - not even the country. I did an extensive internet search a few years ago, whilst living abroad & came across his son. Tied up the loose ends. This will be the first time we actually meet up, as it will be my first time back in SA in around 10 years. My boet likes to write letters - I prefer e-mail. Somehow the comms got lost over time with changes in e-mail & phone numbers.

Great to hear you got there in the end.

There's still the issue of directories in this new telecoms era though. You've raised a very interesting issue.
Do we need (or want) a directory that includes mobile telephone numbers?
Is Neotel going to do a directory one day?
