    Developing a new game

    Hello forumites!

I have an idea of a game but I do not know who can help me design and develop the game. Selling/marketing it will be my duty. Who can point me in the right direction. I just need a reliable game developer.

    Thank you

Good idea but what is your game type? Is it action, adventure, rpg, sports, puzzle or driving etc? Would be opting for a partnership plan or anything else? Online business sites like servana could be a much better choice than others as they’re cramped up with talented people and seriously interested candidates. Hi Jacob,
Why do you not give a prize for the best title for this game. I would suggest "Uncontrolled Libido"
I am sure you can run it as serial as there bound to be many more episodes.

I am talking a computer game to be precise but the one that can also have a cellphone version. I do not want to let much out as this game i have in my mind is for the specialised group of people.

Yes ACTION game it is. If you have see FOOTBAL PRO, it is something along those lines but this time my idea is not on soccer but some history events.

Surely not - that would be a lottery as opposed to a game

Is your game 2D or 3D. If you want it to run cross platform then finding a Java programmer might be the way to go if it's a simple GUI. You can also code games in C#/C++, Directx9/10. It all depends on what you're after. Graphics engines for serious games are extremely involved pieces of software and I don't know of any company in SA who specialises in this kinda thing.

I'm sure you'll get better help with this if you give some details of the game. Just saying it's simple doesn't really give us much to go on.

                          Hi,

I have dabbled in game programming myself - mainly XNA with the microsoft framework and C#. What language are you programming in? Do you use a framework?

Basically, you are what they call an Indie game programmer. At this point in time, your best options are to release the game as shareware with a try before you buy option (play with limited features or only play level 1 if not registered). You can also see if you can get the following guys interested :

then you are on your way because they will post a review of your game if they like it!

You can even write the game onto cd's yourself and sell it at flea markets? Just make sure the installation is painless (include all the needed libraries, interfaces etc.)
