[Question] Duplication of Salary : Claim Gross or Net Salary

Our HR duplciated salary of one of my staff.
An agreement was recahed that a deduction will be made the following month ,

My staff member is now worried since the gross amount is being claimed from here even though she only got the net amount after deductions. On seeking clairty from HR, i have been advised that the employee will get their refund for the tax portion from SARS in the next filing period.

Any Pay roll expertise? please advise and steps how to resolve this so i can foward to my HR .

If you use a payroll package like VIP or Payspace then I will recommend to phone them and fix the problem on the system. The employee don't have to wait a year for her tax money, amend the tax on next months payslip

Out of idle curiosity, who flagged the problem - the staff member or HR?

The employee advised Hr of the error as they did not pcik it up for a while.
I guess it would only have been picked up by audits at year end.

        Scary hey!

The kind of employee you want to keep!

Obviously the extra transactions need to be reversed, including the deduction transactions. From the employee's cash flow point of view, all that should be "coming back to the company" is the extra money that went to the employee in the first place, surely.

            Or am I missing something?

You are correct Dave. All that needs to go back is what the employee received in error in the first place. I cannot afford to have a good team player affected by what is not heir making. I communicated the vies as per advises from this forum as well as my initial understanding and hopefully HR will resolve this prior to releasing any salaries.
