[Question] Electricity Cost Residential vs Commercial

    Hi All,

I just want to check if anyone knows whether the cost of electricity is currently more for residential or for commercial per KWh. If you have some rand values that would be great. I just want to know what to expect if I rent a commercial property as I expect to be using quite a bit of power.

    Thanks,
    KK

In our part of the country, the rate is R2,58 per kwh for residential and about R3.14 per kwh for commercial for the basic unit

You have many factors to take into consideration, for example some land lords have a roof top full of solar panels and charge tenants a fixed rate, some have council prepaid meters and some have private pre paid meters. There could also be a bulk supply and the property management group will buy bulk electricity and sell it to the tenants.

The bottom line, there are too many variables, you will need to check the rate with the landlord.

Comments are my opinion, unless regulations are attached to support the comment. This is social media, not a court room.

You should be able to get the electricity rates from your local council website - I could tell you PE rates which will differ
Also going to depend on 3 phase or single phase and the size of 3 phase supply as that changes the rate
